All About Ashley Browne ( ^ω^ )
Hi, everyone. My name is Ashley Browne. I was born on December 11, 2005, which makes me a Sagittarius. I am Afro-Caribbean and a first generation American. My parent are from a small island in the Caribbean called Saint Vincent & the Grenadines. I have four siblings, three are older and I have one younger brother. I grew up in Peekskill, NY, which is a small city in Westchester (about an hour from NYC). I went to Catholic school my entire life and recently graduation from John F. Kennedy Catholic High School. My favorite color is purple. Some of my favorite artists are Beyoncé, Chloe x Halle, BTS, Kendrick Lamar, Melanie Martinez, The Weekend, Tyler The Creator, and Megan Thee Stallion. I have always been obsessed with animation and cartoons, so some of my favorite shows are The Amazing World of Gumball, Bob’s Burgers, and Gravity Falls.
I choose to study Japanese because my love of all things cartoon eventually lead me to anime and I ended learning a lot about Japan and Japanese culture. I’m also just a bit of a linguistics nerd. I’m obsessed with how certain languages sound and learning how to imitate their accents, such as Thai, Spanish, Korean, Xhosa, and French. Since I really like how Japanese sounds and would love to consume more Japanese content without translations, I decided to study it. By the way, my favorite animes are One Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100 ( ✌︎'ω')✌︎
Hi Ashley, It's really cool how you're interested in so many languages. I also do some French, Spanish and Korean and I have similar interests in Japanese as you do! It's great to see that you had lots of fun in life. Nice to read your blog!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite artists are BTS, and a lot of the other artists you named too. Anyways, hi. I think it's so cool you're from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. When I was younger, I would play games based on memorizing countries in different continents. I love all the cartoons you named, especially Bob's Burgers and Gravity Falls.
ReplyDeleteI went to Catholic school for 7th and 8th grade plus all of high school, so I can relate. I've heard good things about Gravity Falls so maybe I'll check it out sometime. Personally, I really like Avatar: The Last Airbender and Star Wars TCW. Also, I think it's interesting how some of the pronunciations in Spanish and Japanese are similar. I agree about wanting to consume more Japanese content without translations, too, because I've encountered jokes (at least in Spy X Family) that only make sense in the original language, plus I know that in JoJo some of the names are changed in English to avoid copyright issues.
